The Brown-RISD Muslim Chaplaincy sees to the needs of all those who identify as Muslim at Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Events and initiatives in the community are coordinated by the Office of the Chaplains and Religious Life, the Brown MSA, and United Muslim Artists & Designers.
These organizations work together to: (1) build community among all who identify as Muslim at Brown & RISD and provide for and advocate for their religious needs—including people of all levels of practice and variety of approach to the religion (such as Shia and Ismaili); (2) coordinate, on Brown’s campus, educational opportunities and essential religious services—such as Jumu’ah and Eid Prayer—that conform to the normative Islamic Sunni tradition; and (3) be a resource on Islam, Muslims, and Islamophobia for the broader Brown University and RISD communities.
During Brown's academic semesters, Jumu'ah happens on campus from 1:15 to 1:50 PM. Check out the organizations' Facebook pages and websites for information on other events.
