Founded in 2016, AHOPE assists refugees and the homeless resettle in Rhode Island by providing them immediate essentials such as furniture, kitchenware, and--most importantly--a feeling of community. Check out their website for a full description about how you can help, through volunteering, mentoring or sponsoring.
Here are some ways you can get involved:
AHOPE is collaborating with MAE Organization for the Homeless (www.maeorg.org) to organize a weekly "Meals of Hope" program, through which members of the community can cook and serve food to the homeless and underserved members of the community. Tuesdays at 6PM, 30 Fenner St., Providence.
Volunteer meetings every first and third Wednesday of the month at Masjid Kareem.
Sign up for the RICMA newsletter, and check out the community calendar for more AHOPE events.
