Serve Allah, and join not any partners with Him; and do good to your parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbors who are near, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer (ye meet), and what your right hands possess:
For Allah loveth not the arrogant, the vainglorious;

Initiatives

 RICMA Welfare Fund
Help local needy families with the Zakaat & Charity provided by local community. The reasons for request for financial help vary: temporary loss of family income, family tragedy, uninsured medical bills, and funeral
expenses are some examples. The type of people asking for help are not only the ones on Government Welfare but also the working poor that ran into unfortunate circumstances.
Unless the Community seeks out and offer help, this segment of our society they will be left helpless! Contributions to these activities are tax deductible ( Fed Tax ID # 57-1146402).
Indicate on your check which service to use it for.

 Healthy Family Initiatives

The Healthy Families Initiative is a grass-root movement, under the auspices of the Rhode Island Council for Muslim Advancement (RICMA), aimed at educating the Muslim community on the Islamic perspective on domestic violence. Our goals are to: a. Serve as a platform for Muslims experiencing domestic violence to access intervention resources and services available to the community at large b. Work in conjunction with the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence to educate advocates and professionals on the special needs of Muslims reaching out to them for help. c. Provide intervention programs to eradicate the occurrence of domestic abuse in the Muslim community.   READ MORE

Sister Wing of RICMA has been meeting since late 2007 to establish various women-only initiatives. They have spoken at churches, organized retreats, and done other activities to increase the available activities for Muslim women in Rhode Island. Although women in general are encouraged to be part of
every RICMA initiative, the Sisters' Wing exists primarily for those who prefer a women -only environment.
If you are looking for a speaker for an event related to Islam, Misconceptions of Islam, Women in Islam or Muslims in America please email us at  sisterwing@ricma.org

 Youth 4 Youth (Y4Y)

Have you ever thought of making a difference for a cause? Well now is your chance to show your identity to the people around you as not only an active Muslim, but as a Muslim who plays his/her role in helping people around him/her. As Muslim teenagers surrounded by a non-Muslim lifestyle, we find ourselves facing challenges. We have duties to preserve our Islamic culture and moral values, and defending our religion and our identities against waves of negative influence. Luckily, the topics of our meetings won’t be just about our duties. Most of the time, depending on ideas and ability, we will be planning and brainstorming.
