Why do we need RICMA?
RICMA will:
- Foster the spirit of coming together among the member societies.
- Facilitate better communications between RI Muslims and local
Islamic organizations, mosques, and centers as well as nationally like
ICNE, NEMSA, ISNA, ICNA, CAIR, etc.
- Coordinate affairs of common interest to the Islamic Societies of
RI.
- Address and correct any misinterpretations of Islam and false
information about Islam through proper channels and media.
- Create avenues for combined charitable and humane efforts by Muslims
and Islamic Societies towards all people.
- Promote a better understanding of Islam by organizing and holding
workshops, conferences, etc.
Why do we need to work together ?
We need to work together to be more effective in propagating Islam,
correcting misunderstandings about Islam, providing the community's opinion
on various issues that relate to Muslims, and to fulfill Allah's (SWT)
orders: "AND HOLD FAST ALL TOGETHER BY THE ROPE WHICH GOD STRETCHES OUT FOR
YOU, AND NOT BE DIVIDED AMONG YOURSELVES", (Surah 3, Verse 103), and "AND
THEIR AFFAIRS ARE CONDUCTED THROUGH MUTUAL CONSULTATIONS AMONG THEMSELVES",
(Surah 42, Verse 38).
Who is in RICMA?
RICMA consists of four volunteer representatives (2 males and 2 females)
from each Islamic Organization (mosque, center, society) in RI. That is why
RICMA IS FROM US.
Who will carry the various activities by RICMA?
The above representatives will administer all activities. They will recruit
helpers from the Islamic Organizations and the Muslim community. That is why
RICMA IS BY US.
Who will benefit from RICMA's activities?
The immediate Muslim Community in RI (males/females) of all ages will
benefit from the social, recreational, educational, charitable activities.
That is why RICMA IS TO US.
Will RICMA interfere with the internal affairs
of the Islamic Organizations in RI?
RICMA shall not in anyway interfere with the spiritual, political, social,
activities of any member organization, mosque, or center. It shall not usurp
the rights or authority of any Imam or head of any organization within his
organization.
What is the relation between RICMA and the
Islamic Organizations in RI? IS RICMA apart of ISRI?
RICMA will serve these organizations (if requested to do so by these
organizations) in all aspects within its goals and objectives.
No, RICMA and the Islamic School
of Rhode Island (ISRI) are two separate non-profit organizations.
Can businesses in RI join RICMA?
Yes, businesses can be members in RICMA with one vote in its shurah
Can I participate in RICMA's activities?
Yes, contact your president (or Imam), your RICMA representative, any other
RICMA representative, or contact RICMA directly.
