Muslim Girl Scouts of Rhode Island
About US
As-Salam Alakium,
We believe it is important to have MuslimGirl Scouts because the girls have theopportunity to perform educational activities, learn leadership skills, gain confidence, and have fun all in an Islamic environment. Each troop meeting opens with one of thescouts reciting Al-Fatiha and closes with adua, and activities and trips are modifiedto ensure that they fall within Islamic guidelines. The troops are under the umbrella the SistersWing of RICMA, and also affiliated with the MuslimAmerican Society (MAS). MAS affiliation allows usto a nationwide network of Muslim troop leaders aswell as certain Islam-based patches and badgesthat the girls can earn. Our troops meet in the Islamic School of RhodeIsland cafeteria twice per month for 1 1/2 hours, andalso attend field trips on the weekend once or twicea month.Inshallah, we expect that the troops will growmuch more in the fall since we have receivedmany inquiries from parents in our communityand beyond. We are very much open tosuggestions and feedback and welcome anyquestions.Jazak Allahu Khyran,Jeena Santos AhmedTroop 477 leader
