Audubon Society's Maple Sugaring program
March 15, 2008
On March 15, Muslim Girl Scouts Troop 477 and 429 attended the Audubon Society's Maple Sugaring program at the Parker Woodland refuge in Coventry. The Scouts had a wonderful breakfast which included pancakes with maple syrup, fruits, and doughnuts with maple cream. Following breakfast, the scouts braved the weather (rain, sleet, and snow!) and listened carefully as the program guide gave a history of Maple sugaring, and showed us the process of making maple syrup from start to finish. At the end of the tour, the troop returned inside the barn and taste-tested real vs. artificial maple syrup. All of us had a wonderful time!
